It's in my genes!

That's right folks! I bought vintage fabric from an Etsy shop and planned to use it in a certain project. Alas, I was unable to find the materials needed for it so I switched by game plan. Here is the project I wanted to start:

This is the vintage fabric I bought:

Here is what I started to do:

I have more than enough fabric! I will be able to do the project I intended to do but I have always wanted to sew fabric behind the holes. (Those aren't my jeans) My jeans will be posted after! By the way, sewing by hand is very time consuming. I am hoping the project turns out the way I had envisioned it. Would anyone like to donate a sewing machine? Maybe? Ha! It was worth a try.

The is my brain on Crafts

I can't seem to stop obsessing over craft projects. Do I intend on starting them? Maybe, I mean, yeah I do. It's a matter of getting the materials together and the time to put aside.

I work full time and have two beautiful kids. I have been moved into the new house since July of 2011 and my scrapbooking station is untouched. I haven't even began a scrapbook for my youngest and need to back track and continue with my older son's scrapbook. Where does the time go? Do you know where it goes? Dishes, laundry and picking up after everyone takes up the rest of my time. Oh, trying to figure out a dinner plan on short notice. Planning meals has to be my biggest issue. Crock pot meals are great if you have all of the ingredients ready to go. I can buy all the meat but if I am missing one or two ingredientse to throw in the crock pot, forget it!

What is the point of my blog? It's to rant and rave about subjects others might be interested in. If not, oh well! I guess it will be a journal. Relieve some stress, ideas, bla bla bla!

I figured out that my ideas fall under Shabby Chic. Most of the items I have seen in pictures are made by the 100's but I want to rescue old ratty items and use them. I don't want to have the same birdcage my neighbor has. I want one that I found at a yardsale off in the sticks. Nothing like getting a piece of someones history and making it your future.

I have been searching for glass jars, bottles, wooden shutters, old twine, slabs of wood and whatever else I think I might find useful. Buying all natural peanut butter is healthier for you but you can also use the glass jars for many things. I am going to use them for decoration. You can wrap twine around them along with lace or use decoupage. Stick a candle in it when you are finished and voila! You can use beer bottles as table top tiki torches or pretty them up for single flower vases. I was at a get together and someone had a blue beer bottle which I think was Budweiser? Anyway, I dug through the recycling and managed to get it for myself. Washed it out and is awaiting its makeover!!

A lot of these ideas I will not take credit for. I find them when I am looking at Pinterest or Etsy. If I have a chance to choose a handmade item over something out of Wal-Not than you better believe I will choose handmade.

I am going to order some crafting wire and a metal hole punch and get to work on my jars. Ever thought of decoupaging the glass jars, sticking a candle in it and hanging it from a shepards hook? I bet that would be a great conversation piece at your next family cookout or bonfire.

I am also wondering if and when I come across old wooden shutters and window frames, if I could use them in my garden, rather than buying the trellis'. The way I feel when an idea comes to mind, is awesome! Maybe someday I will have the chance to put all my ideas to work. Maybe, just maybe I will be able to decorate someone's house? Interior design? Who knows!
